Oktoberfest 2004… 2005… 2006…
So… planning for our annual Oktoberfest extravaganza in Big Bear is already underway. A big thank you goes out to Kevin and Kristina for putting this together every year!
This celebration became an official event for our crew in October of 2004. The original crew consisted of Paula & I, Kevin & Kristina, Greg & Vicki, Gene & Dina, and Chad & Melinda.
Friday, October 15, 2004 - Most of the crew took the day off of work and headed up to enjoy the day in Big Bear. Paula and I took off after work, stopping for Japanese Teppanyaki on the way. Knowing that everyone else is already up there and partying, I started drinking a half-pint of Jack at the bottom of the mountain. By the time we got to the cabin about half-an-hour or so later, it was almost gone. Nobody was really partying when we arrived. I made sure to change that, and good thing I did because it was all the partying that I was able to do for the weekend… Let’s just say that I became borderline comatose and my once-appetizing Japanese Teppanyaki made a rather unpleasant appearance.
Saturday, October 18, 2004 - I woke up and had no idea what happened the night before. I had no idea why Paula was so pissed at me 
. Of course, I thought she was exaggerating. It wasn’t until I actually tried to get up when I believed her. There was no getting up for me that day. I missed the entire Oktoberfest celebration. I was able to wake up around 8pm, so I did join in on some drinking games and chilled with the crew. From the sounds of it, Oktoberfest was a blast… I was bummed.

The 2005 celebration occured the weekend right after Paula and I got back from Australia. Unfortunately, Paula got sick from all of the traveling, so she was not able to make it up to Big Bear. Once again, Paula and I wouldn’t experience Oktoberfest together. Nevertheless, it was a ton of fun… and I made it through without incident.
The ‘05 crew consisted of me, Greg, Kevin & Kristina, Gene & Dina, Faith & Brian, Rocky & Monique, and Marty & Lorna.
Friday, October 21, 2005 - Drove up to Big Bear with Faith & Brian, and Greg. Everybody else was already there except for Marty & Lorna, who came in the next morning. We foosed, bonged beer, and shot Absinthe. Rocky pretty much bonged the Absinthe and, needless to say, it came back out a little later.
Saturday, October 22, 2005 - I made it to Oktoberfest! It was crazy! We bought these little Spaten kegs, ate some brats, and basically started up our own stein holding contest/gambling ring. We ended up at some bar afterwards which Rocky, Monique, and I closed out.

This year, the plan is to head up to Big Bear October 13-15. Hopefully, this year will mark the first time Paula and I are at Oktoberfest together!
